The Neuromodulation and Pain Unit was established in March 2020, although the majority of its team has been working together in the multidisciplinary management of neuropathic pain for 14 years.
The creation of this unit responds to the increase in complex techniques and invasive procedures and the increase in patients with more complex pathologies who are referred from outside our health area for evaluation.
1 Service portfolio
The Neuromodulation and Pain Unit at Hospital del Mar evaluates patients with severe, chronic neuropathic pain that does not respond to pharmacological treatment. These people could benefit from non-invasive or invasive cerebral or modular neuromodulation techniques.
2 Professionals
It is a multidisciplinary unit of professionals specialized in neuropathic pain who carry out highly complex, unusual techniques.
